Your Lymph, Your Life – Help your Body Detoxify Through Yoga

Do you struggle to feel well despite healthy eating and exercise routines? Lymphatic congestion may be to blame. There are many signs of lymphatic congestion – brain fog, fatigue, rashes, swelling and inflammation, muscle pain, depression/anxiety, headaches, sluggish digestion, etc. The causes are many as well – including toxic exposure, stress and trauma, sedentary lifestyle or sitting for prolonged periods, poor breathing. Yoga can help alleviate a sluggish lymphatic system through movement and proper breathing.

Your lymphatic system is a group of organs, vessels and tissues that protect you from infection and keep a healthy balance of fluids throughout your body. When this system gets backlogged, we can maintain a healthy lifestyle, but we may still feel unwell. Yoga helps the body move the lymph and keeps things from stagnating. Under stress, the fascia can thicken and tense, creating less flow in the body, impacting our nervous system, lymphatic system and more. When we are not breathing well, this also impacts our lymphatic flow. In a toxic world, it is ever more important to keep this system of the body functioning well. In this workshop, learn how yoga helps our lymphatic system through asana (poses) and breath. In addition, we will learn a variety of self-massage techniques to encourage lymphatic drainage. When we open the detoxification pathways before yoga, our practice can become even more healing. This workshop will feature somatic movement, myofascial release work, self-massage techniques and a bit of gentle flow yoga.

Please note: it is not recommended to do this practice with an active infection - if you are sick or have something like a bladder infection, better to wait for another session.

When: Sunday, April 7 at 1-3pm

Cost: $40

Deanna has been practicing yoga for more than twenty-five years, and teaching for almost fifteen. She earned both her 200 hour and 500 hour level certifications at the Yoga Loft of Bethlehem where she also served as the director of teacher training for several years. She has additional training in restorative, yin, somatic, partner and children’s yoga. Deanna’s classes are creatively themed– allowing for a unique experience incorporating topics ranging from mythology, Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine, psychological topics, etc. Each class is crafted to include asana, music, spiritual readings and more. Deanna’s passion is helping her students be their best selves through the healing practices of yoga.

Her specialty is somatic yoga, a practice which helps practitioners recover from tension stored in the body in the form of trauma, stress and injury.  Somatic yoga is a gentle form of yoga which asks students to go inward, focusing on sensation with awareness and mindfulness.  This style of yoga helps release sensory motor amnesia – when our muscles are either locked into contraction or non-engagement.  The overall effect is one of deep relaxation and calm, as well as renewed energy and purpose. She has trained extensively with Tias Little of Santa Fe, New Mexico in the art of somatic yoga (SATYA). She has 200 plus hours additional training in somatics. She teaches at a variety of locations throughout the Lehigh Valley and you can find her on Facebook at Deanna Nagle Yoga.

A former librarian, she is passionate about literature, philosophy, music and poetry and often incorporates these into her classes.  Her passion is helping her students be their best selves through the healing practices of yoga. A mother of two, Deanna resides in Limeport with her partner, Brian, a local glass artist.
